วัดแจ้ง เป็นวัดเก่าแก่ ตั้งอยู่ที่ถนนสรรพสิทธิ์ ตำบลในเมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ตามประวัติกล่าวว่าสร้างขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2431 ตรงกับรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 5 โดยดำริของเจ้าราชบุตร (หนูคำ) หนึ่งในคณะอาญาสี่ผู้ปกครองเมืองอุบลราชธานีในสมัยนั้น ภายในวัดแจ้ง มีสิ่งปลูกสร้างที่สำคัญคือ พระอุโบสถ ที่สร้างเสร็จในราว พ.ศ. 2455 โดยอาคารหลังนี้ได้รับการยกย่องว่ามีรูปทรงที่สวยงาม และมีงานจำหลักไม้ที่เป็นศิลปะท้องถิ่นโดยแท้ ซึ่งนับวันจะหาดูเป็นตัวอย่างได้ยาก พระอุโบสถวัดแจ้ง หรือสิมวัดแจ้ง เป็นสถาปัตยกรรมแบบอีสาน แปลนรูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้า กว้าง 6 เมตร ยาว 15 เมตร สูง 10 เมตร หันหน้าไปทางทิศตะวันออก ตัวอาคารก่ออิฐถือปูน ผนังด้านข้างมีหน้าต่างด้านละ 3 ช่อง ส่วนผนังด้านหลังก่อทึบ มีบันไดขึ้นทางเดียวคือทางด้านหน้า ราวบันไดปั้นปูนเป็นรูปจระเข้หมอบ หน้าบันเป็นไม้สลักลวดลายแบบพื้นบ้านผสมลายไทยภาคกลาง บนสุดเป็นภาพพระอินทร์ทรงช้างเอราวัณ สำหรับหลังคาของพระอุโบสถนั้นเป็นหลังคาชั้นเดียว เดิมมุงด้วยกระเบื้องไม้ ต่อมาเปลี่ยนเป็นกระเบื้องดินเผา ส่วนประดับหลังคาประกอบด้วย พะไร (ปีกนก) รวยลำยองแบบไม่มีนาคสะดุ้ง (รวยระกามอญ) ช่อฟ้า (โหง่) ใบระกา และหางหงส์แบบอีสาน โดยมีลักษณะพิเศษคือ ทำเป็นรูปหัวนาค ตรงหงอนสะบัดปลายเป็นกนกเปลว พระอุโบสถวัดแจ้ง ได้รับการบูรณะเรื่อยมาโดยพยายามให้คงสภาพใกล้เคียงของเดิมมากที่สุด ด้วยความงดงามของศิลปะแบบอีสานแท้ ๆ และด้วยความมีคุณค่าทางประวัติศาสตร์ ทำให้อาคารหลังนี้กลายเป็นสิ่งหมายตาของเหล่านักท่องเที่ยวที่เดินทางมาเยือนวัดแจ้ง จังหวัดอุบลราชธานีและยังได้รับเกียรติบัตรในงานนิทรรศการ "สถาปนิก 30" จากสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี

Wat Chaeng is an old temple. Rectangular plan, 6 meters wide, 15 meters long, 10 meters high, facing east. The building is made of brick and mortar. The side wall has 3 windows on each side, while the back wall is solid. There is only one staircase leading up to the front. Stucco handrail in the shape of a crocodile crocodile. The gable is carved in folk patterns mixed with central Thai patterns. At the top is the image of Indra on the Erawan elephant. For the roof of the Ubosot is a single-storey roof.
