สวนรุกขชาติฯเป็นแหล่งรวบรวมสายพันธุ์ไม้ป่าในท้องถิ่นและในพื้นที่ใกล้เคียงโดยการนำมาปลูกรวบรวมไว้เพื่ออนุรักษ์ รวมถึงพืชสมุนไพรใกล้ตัว มีป้ายชื่อสมุนไพร และสรรพคุณทางยา นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นศูนย์เรียนรู้การเพาะชำกล้าไม้ แจกจ่ายกล้าไม้ฟรีสำหรับหน่วยงานราชการ และประชาชนเพื่อเป็นการส่งเริมการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรป่าไม้และเพิ่มพื้นที่สีเขียว ตลอดจนเป็นแหล่งศึกษาเชิงนิเวศน์ป่าไม้และเป็นที่พักผ่อนหย่อนใจแก่บุคคลทั่วไป
