พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติธรณีวิทยาเฉลิมพระเกียรติ จังหวัดปทุมธานี สังกัด กรมทรัพยากรธรณี กระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม จัดตั้งขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อถวายเป็นราชสักการะแด่พระบาทสมเด็จ พระมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร เนื่องในมหามงคลวโรกาสที่ทรงครองสิริราชสมบัติครบ 50 ปี เพื่อให้พิพิธภัณฑ์ดังกล่าวเป็นสถานที่อนุรักษ์ แหล่งข้อมูลอ้างอิงและตัวอย่างที่สำคัญทางธรณีวิทยา ให้แก่ประชาชนชาวไทยสามารถศึกษาค้นคว้าหาความรู้ด้านธรณีวิทยาอันมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการดำรงชีวิตของมนุษย์และการพัฒนาประเทศ พิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งนี้มีส่วนจัดแสดงในอาคารทั้งหมด 4 ชั้น จัดแสดงเรื่องราวตั้งแต่การกำเนิดโลก วิวัฒนาการของสิ่งมีชีวิต ธรณีวิทยาของประเทศไทย ตลอดจน การนำความรู้ธรณีวิทยาไปใช้ประโยชน์ในด้านต่างๆ สิ่งที่น่าสนใจได้แก่ สวนดึกดำบรรพ์ที่จะได้พบกับไดโนเสาร์เคลื่อนไหวได้ราวกับมีชีวิตด้วยรูปแบบการจัดแสดงที่ประกอบไปด้วยแสงสีเสียงที่น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจ นอกจากนี้ ยังเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งเดียวในภาคกลางที่จัดแสดงซากดึกดำบรรพ์ของจริงที่ขุดค้นพบในประเทศไทยเท่านั้น

The Golden Jubilee National Geological Museum is under Department of Mineral Resources This is one of twelve projects under the establishment plan for the institute of art, culture and science to commemorate His Majesty the King Rama 9’s Golden Jubilee. The Museum serves as a learning centre about geology and tourism attraction for the general public. Highlights of the museum are Thai dinosaur models, Thai fossils and exhibition with multimedia and lighting artistry. The museum composed of 4 floor building with a space of 14,000 square meters in the 2 acres of land. The museum has a 400-seat auditorium room, one executive meeting room, together with a temporary exhibition hall, library, souvenir shop, and canteen. Outside of the museum there are spaces for a geological rock garden and Dino-park’s.
