ประวัติความเป็นมา ปัจจุบันอุทยานแห่งชาติขุนน่านมีเนื้อที่ประมาณ ๒๔๖.๓๗๑๒ ตารางกิโลเมตร หรือประมาณ ๑๕๓,๙๘๒ ไร่ ในท้องที่ตำบลภูฟ้า ตำบลบ่อเกลือใต้ และตำบลดงพญา อำเภอบ่อเกลือ จังหวัดน่าน ซึ่งได้ผ่านความเห็นชอบจากชุมชนโดยรอบ ผ่านคณะกรรมการพิจารณาทั้งระดับอำเภอและจังหวัด ได้ผ่านคณะรัฐมนตรี และคณะกรรมกฤษฎีกาเรียบร้อยแล้ว จนถึงวันที่ ๑๒ มิถุนายน ๒๕๕๒ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวได้มีพระราชโองการโปรดเกล้าให้พื้นที่ดังกล่าวเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ ตามพระราชกฤษฎีกา พ.ศ.๒๕๕๒ ลงในพระกิจจานุเบกษาเล่มที่ ๑๒๖ ตอนที่ ๔๓ ก หน้า ๑๐๐ ลงวันที่ ๑๕ กรกฎาคม ๒๕๕๒ เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติลำดับที่ ๑๑๑ ของประเทศไทย อุทยานแห่งชาติขุนน่าน มีสภาพป่าเป็นป่าดิบเขาและป่าดิบชื้นหรือป่าฝนที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ มีความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพทั้งพันธุ์พืช และพันธุ์สัตว์ มีน้ำตกหลายแห่ง จุดชมวิวที่สวยงามที่สำคัญเป็นแหล่งกำเนิดลำน้ำว้า ซึ่งเป็นลำน้ำสาขาของน้ำน่านและเป็นที่อยู่อาศัย/สมรภูมิรบของผู้ร่วมพัฒนาชาติไทยมาก่อน แหล่งท่องเที่ยว จุดชมวิวสะปัน อยู่ห่างจากที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติขุนน่าน ประมาณ 2 กิโลเมตร สามารถชมทะเลหมอกในช่วงฤดูหนาว เป็นจุดชมทะเลหมอกที่สวยงามอีกแห่งหนึ่งของจังหวัดน่าน น้ำตกห้วยตี๋ อยู่ที่บ้านนาบง เป็นน้ำตกขนาดลาง มี ๖ ชั้น มีน้ำไหลตลอดทั้งปี มีความสวยงามตามธรรมชาติ สมบูรณ์สวยงามมาก สภาพเส้นทางเข้าถึงน้ำตกต้องเดินเท้าและระยะทางค่อนข้างไกล น้ำตกบ้านเด่น อยู่ที่บ้านเด่น ตำบลดงพญา น้ำตกอยู่ในลำห้วยนั๊วะ เป็นน้ำตกขนาดกลาง มี ๓ ชั้น มีน้ำไหลตลอดทั้งปี มีความสวยงามทางธรรมชาติ สภาพเส้นทางเข้าถึงน้ำตกต้องเดินเท้าระยะทาง ประมาณ ๓ กิโลเมตร น้ำตกห้วยห้า อยู่ที่บ้านนาบง ตำบลบ่อเกลือใต้ น้ำตกอยู่ในห้วยห้า เป็นน้ำตกขนาดกลาง มี ๓ ชั้น มีน้ำไหลตลอดทั้งปี เป็นน้ำตกที่มีความสวยงามตามธรรมชาติอย่างยิ่ง โดยเฉพาะน้ำตกชั้นที่ ๓ ซึ่งมีความสูงและการกระจายของน้ำตกที่สวยงาม การเดินทาง นักท่องเที่ยวสามารถเดินทางมายังอุทยานแห่งชาติขุนน่าน จากตัวเมืองจังหวัดน่าน ได้ 2 เส้นทาง คือ เส้นทางที่ ๑ ตามทางหลวงหมายเลข ๑๐๘๐ (น่าน – ทุ่งช้าง) ประมาณ ๕๙ กิโลเมตรถึงอำเภอปัว แยกขวาไป ตามทางหลวง หมายเลข ๑๒๔๖ (ปัว – บ่อเกลือ) ประมาณ ๔๖ กิโลเมตร ถึงทางแยกที่อำเภอบ่อเกลือ เลี้ยวซ้ายไปตามทางหลวง หมายเลข ๑๐๘๑ (บ่อเกลือ-เฉลิมพระเกียรติ) เป็นระยะทาง ๕ กิโลเมตร มีทางแยกขึ้นที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติขุนน่าน รวมระยะทางทั้งหมด ๑๒๐ กิโลเมตร ใช้ระยะเวลาในการเดินทางทั้งหมดประมาณ ๒ ชั่วโมง ๓๐ นาที เส้นทางที่ 2 สายน่าน-สันติสุข-บ่อเกลือ ตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 1169 ถึงสามแยกตำบลอวนเลี้ยวขวาไปตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 1081 ถึงอำเภอบ่อเกลือ ระยะทาง 50 กิโลเมตร ใช้ระยะเวลาในการเดินทางทั้งหมดประมาณ ๒ ชั่วโมง

It is a waterfall with great natural beauty. Especially the third level waterfall, which has a beautiful height and distribution of waterfalls. Travel Visitors can come to Khun Nan National Park. From the city of Nan, you can take 2 routes, namely Route 1, along Highway No. 1080 (Nan - Thung Chang) about 59 kilometers to Pua District, turn right along Highway No. 1246 (Pua - Bo Kluea) for about 46 kilometers to the junction at Bo Kluea District. Turn left onto Highway No. 1081 (Bo Kluea - Chalerm Prakiat) for a distance of 5 kilometers, there is a junction leading up to Khun Nan National Park Office. The total distance is 120 kilometers, the total journey time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Route 2 Nan - Santisuk - Bo Kluea route Follow Highway No. 1169 to the T-junction of Uan Sub-district, turn right onto Highway No. 1081 to Bo Kluea District, a distance of 50 kilometers.
