อุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกรุงเป็นป่าต้นน้ำ ของลำน้ำคลองยัน จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี และคลองพะโต๊ะ จ.ชุมพร พื้นที่โดยส่วนใหญ่เป็นภูเขาสลับซับซ้อน แนวเขตอุทยานฯทอดตัวยาว ตามแนวเหนือ-ใต้ ทิศตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือติดกับพื้นที่ จ.ระยอง ทิศเหนือติดกับพื้นที่ จ.ชุมพร ยอดเขาที่สูงที่สุด คือยอดเขา เขา-นมสาว สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเล ประมาณ 1,000 เมตร มียอดเขาที่สำคัญอีก 3 แห่ง คือ ยอดเขายายหม่อน, ยอดเขาแดน และยอดเขาไผ่ สภาพอากาศมีความชื่นสูง เนื่องจากพื้นที่ป่าโดยส่วนใหญ่เป็นป่าดิบชื้น มีฝนตกเกือบตลอดปี มี 2 ฤดูกาล คือ ฤดูร้อน ระหว่างเดือน กุมภาพันธ์-เมษายน ฤดูฝน ระหว่างเดือน พฤษภาคม-มกราคม

Kaeng krung National Park is upstream forest of the Yan canal, Surat Thani Phato canal, Chumphon province. The area is mostly mountainous. The area of National park long stretches along the north-south line. Northeast side next to Ranong province & north side next to Chumphon province. The highest peak of mountain is the Nomsao peak of 1,000 meters above sea level. There are 3 major peaks: the Maeyai- Mon peak, the Dan peak and the Bamboo peak. Weather with high humidity because of the area is mostly rainforest. It has rained all year round, with 2 seasons. Summer between February and April. Rainy season from May to January.
