อุทยานแห่งชาติธารโบกขรณี ประกาศเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติตามพระราชบัญญัติอุทยานแห่งชาติ พ.ศ.2504 เมื่อวันที่ 30 กันยายน 2541 ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ 104 ตารางกิโลเมตร นับเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติลำดับที่ 85 ของประเทศ ทัศนียภาพโดยทั่วไป ประกอบด้วยเทือกเขาหินปูนสลับซับซ้อน ซึ่งรอยแยกของหินบางส่วนกลายเป็นโพรง/ทางน้ำใต้ดินและถ้ำที่สวยงาม พื้นที่บางส่วนเป็นหมู่เกาะในทะเลอันดามัน เช่น เกาะห้อง เกาะผักเบี้ย เกาะเหลาลาดิง เป็นต้น

Than Bok Khorani National Park was announced to be a national park according to the National Park Act,B.E.2504 on 30th July,1998. It is in the area of 104 square kilometer and became 85th of national park in Thailand. Its general scenery is consisted of limestone placed alternately, so some parts of the joints make cavities, underground drain and beautiful caves. Some areas are island in Andaman Sea such as Koh Hong, Koh Phakbia, Koh Lao Lading etc.
