ผาช่อเกิดจากการสะสม ทับถม ของตะกอนแม่น้ำโบราณ ยุคเทอร์เชียรี มีอายุมากกว่า 5ล้านปี ตะกอนบริเวณนี้ถูกพามาด้วยกระแสน้ำที่มีความแรงและไหลสม่ำเสมอคงตัวต่อเนื่องยาวนาน ทำให้เกิดการคัดขนาดตะกอนที่ดี ประกอบด้วยชั้น กรวด ทราย และทรายแป้ง ที่มีชั้นตะกอนหนา และแยกชั้นตะกอนอย่างชัดเจน กระบวนการธรณีแปรสัณฐานของโลกที่เปลี่ยนแปลง ทำให้ตะกอนบริเวณนี้ถูกดันตัวขึ้นปัจจุบันกระบวนการทางธรรมชาติ ทั้งทางชีวภาพ (รากไม้) และกระบวนการทางกายภาพ (ฝน ลม กระแสน้ำ) ช่วยกันกัดเซาะ บริเวณพื้นผิวของชั้นตะกอนที่มีความคงทนต่างกัน และพัดพาเม็ดกรวด ทราย ให้เคลื่อนย้ายไปตามแรงโน้มถ่วงของโลก ทำให้ผิวหน้าชั้นตะกอนเกิดเป็นร่อง แท่ง โค้งเว้า เกิดเป็นลวดลายที่สวยงาม ตามธรรมชาติ

Pha-Chor sediment layer was caused by accumulation, disposition of ancient river sediment in Tertiary Period. It aged more than 5 million years. The sediment around this area was brought by the intense and constant flow tide for a long time which caused the screening of even-sized sediment consists of gravel, sand, and silt with a thick and clearly separated sediment layer. The process of global tectonics caused sediment layer around this area to be lifted up. In present day, the natural processes, both biological (root) and physiological (rain, wind, tide), enhance the erosion of surface area of differently adhesive sediment layer and flood gravels, sand to move along the gravity causing nooks, bulges, concaves on surface area of sediment layer result in a beautiful natural pattern, Miraculous Pha-Chor.
