ออบหลวง เป็นหุบผาที่มีสายน้ำไหลผ่าน ภูเขาสูงชันสลับซับซ้อนติดต่อกันเป็นเทือกเขายาวในแนวเหนือจดใต้ เป็นป่าต้นน้ำลำธารที่มีลำห้วยหลายสาย คดเคี้ยวไหลผ่านโขดหินหลายขนาด ที่เรียงรายตามลำน้ำ ไอน้ำกระจายฟุ้งตลอดเวลา หมู่ไม้น้อยใหญ่เจริญงดงาม ดูดซับอาหารจากผืนดินที่ชุ่มชื่นสมบูรณ์ ทำให้บรรยากาศภายในอุทยานฯ ร่มรื่นอยู่ตลอดทั้งปี เป็นจุดเด่นทางธรรมชาติสร้างสรรค์ความสวยงามอย่าน่าอัศจรรย์ อุทยานแห่งชาติออบหลวงแห่งนี้ยังมีการขุดพบแหล่งโบราณคดียุคก่อนประวัติศาสตร์และภาพเขียนโบราณที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดในประเทศไทยอีกด้วย

Op Luang National Park is naturally decorated with a canyon and the steep, north-south oriented mountain ranges. It is regarded as the water source forest with many smaill zigzagging and fast-flowing streams crashing on rocks and boulders producing the magnificent sight of a cloud of spray. Located among the flourishing woods absorbing nutrition form fertile moist land, the national park- the remarkable result of nature's creation is provided with cool and pleasant atmosphere all year round.
